Event Details

Meet artist Sihyeon Park, whose Vujà dé exhibition will be on view in the Pacific Beach Library's Taylor Gallery from April 1 - June 6, 2024.

'Vujà dé'(a familiar but new feeling) is all about Sihyeon Park's perspective on both Korean and American cultures. In Park’s new life in the U.S., she discovered ‘wishes, symbols, happiness, etc.’ It was the "Déjà vu" that she felt in “Minhwa,” a traditional Korean folk art, which serves as her painting inspiration. Creativity stems from different viewpoints, like “Vujà dé.” Sihyeon Park’s artwork showcases familiar Korean and American elements, aiming to provide a fresh perspective by combining representative Korean paintings, symbolic images of the U.S., and her personal story.

In Vujà dé, you can see Park’s first series, the 'Sun and Moon' collection, and the 'Chaekgado' painting related to the library, which was drawn for this exhibition, and is being displayed for the first time.
