"Two for the price of one!" Join us for Walter Ritter's Kamishibai Story Performance and Miss Helene's Evening Stories & Crafts. Such a fun way for families to spend some time at the library!

Visit the library for a Tuesday evening entertaining and enlightening seasonal storytime. Enjoy favorite children's songs and fun musical instruments followed by a creative arts & crafts activity. Presented by Miss Helene, the Youth Services Librarian.

Let's start out the evening by enjoying a lively and entertaining story performance featuring books presented in a Japanese style of folktale storytelling called Kamishibai. This is a children's storytime that the whole family and all ages can enjoy!

Kamishibai brings international folk tales and other stories to life for people, from toddlers to teens and beyond. In this Japanese storybox style "street theater" storytelling tradition, a professional storyteller reveals a series of illustrations contained in a storybox as the narrative unfolds. Before TV & comic books existed in Japan, there was Kamishibai (kami = paper; shibai = theatre). With a wooden box, illustrations & a great narrator to tell the story, kiddos will be in for a treat!

The Kamishibai storytelling program is presented by Write Out Loud San Diego. The Mission of Write Out Loud is to inspire, challenge and entertain by reading literature aloud to audiences of all ages.

This program is appropriate for children ages 5 and up but children all ages are welcome! (Adult supervision recommended for crafts.)
