Welcome to the Fall Quarterly Tournament of the Central Library’s Downtown Chess program, the biggest casual chess club in San Diego!  Libraries throughout the County will send their chess champions to represent and compete against other library champions.

This fall, the Tournament is presented in conjunction with the 2018 One Book One San Diego selection March by Congressman John Lewis, the last living giant of the Civil Rights Movement.

Ten rounds of chess.  Time control is 10 minutes.  Winner determined by highest win margin. Come and SUPPORT your local chess champions. Everyone is welcome.

There will be plenty of opportunities to play by chess fans not directly participating in the tournament.

Downtown Chess is affiliated with the San Diego Chess Club, the official arm of the US Chess Federation.  Downtown Chess is supported by the Friends of the San Diego Central Library. and proud community sponsor Herges Capital Management.  The Friends of the LIbrary is a member-supported nonprofit organization that advocates, fundraises, and provides critical support for the Central Library and related literary and educational programs.
