In this work Strandberg emphasized the concrete nature of materials and how they inform content.  

Along with conventional materials, such as oil paint and canvas, Strandberg has created pieces using tar, newspaper transfer, found cardboard, and the foil from cast off cigarette packs.

The unique qualities of each of these materials lend themselves to compelling statements about the substance of the physical-industrial collage that surrounds us all.
