Program Description

Event Details

As part of this year’s City Heights Puppet Project, the Annex will host the latest version of Paper Cities: or how to avert the oncoming megalopolis. Devised as a hybrid visual performance enacted with puppets, animated objects, dance and original film, Paper Cities explores the precarious foundations and current logic of how humans co-exist with each other and the natural world. It is a story of people becoming urban and forgetting they were once wild.

Animal Cracker Conspiracy, founded by Bridget Rountree and Iain Gunn is an experimental hybrid puppet company and a partner in the City Heights Puppet Project. This version will be an updated and modified version of their first performance in the Annex in the fall of 2015. Sound designed by Kristopher Apple, violinist, composer, performer, faculty SDSU School of Music and Dance. Directed by Liam Clancy, dancer, choreographer, faculty UCSD department of Theatre and Dance.
