Description of Event
Dr. Sloan will present her recently published book W.E.B. Du Bois's "Talented Tenth": A Pioneering Conception of Transformational Leadership.
Dr. Sloan has been a pillar of the San Diego community and a positive role model on many levels. As an entrepreneur, she built a successful business, and then launched a teaching career in the field. She is a graduate of Grossmont College with an associate degree, San Diego State University with both bachelor's and master's degrees, and she received her doctoral degree in educational leadership from the University of San Diego. Her vocational and academic talents have been used to inform her leadership through community involvement, her professional career, her church, and especially in working directly to encourage and educate youth and young scholars. Dr. Sloan hopes to introduce community members to the concepts in her book, which explains Du Bois's pioneering conception of the "Talented Tenth" and makes clear the timeline and importance of his role in advancing the field of Transformational Leadership.
Copies of her book will be available for purchase and signing by the author. Light refreshments will be served.
