Program Description

Event Details

The Black Queer Human Book Experience is a groundbreaking initiative rooted in the spirit of the Human Library, where individuals serve as "books" to share their personal stories, experiences, and perspectives. This unique event focuses on amplifying the voices of Black queer individuals, celebrating their intersections, and fostering authentic dialogue about identity, resilience, and community.

Participants, referred to as "readers," can engage in meaningful one-on-one or small group conversations with "human books," each representing a rich and diverse narrative. Topics span themes of identity, intersectionality, triumphs, challenges, and the complexities of navigating the world as a Black queer person.

This experience serves as an avenue for storytelling and a powerful platform to challenge stereotypes, break down barriers, and promote empathy and understanding. By creating a space for open and honest exchange, the Black Queer Human Book Experience invites readers and books alike to learn, grow, and connect in profound and transformative ways.

This event is proudly presented by San Diego Black Pride. Everyone is welcome to join us in this safe and inclusive space.

Participants will have the opportunity to hear from a special guest speaker, connect with community partners, enjoy refreshments, and more!

Registration is required!
