Happy New Year! On behalf of the City of San Diego and the San Diego Central Library, we would like to cordially invite you to the opening of the 55^th Annual Local Author Showcase. For the first time, the event will be taking place in a virtual realm, with a launch date of Friday, January 29, 2021 at 6pm.* The Showcase will be accessible via the Local Author Program website through March 2022.

This year, we are proud to announce that Dr. Zohreh (Zoe) Khazai Ghahremani, award-winning local author of KPBS’s 2012 One Book, One San Diego selection Sky of Red Poppies, will be providing the evening’s key-note speech.

We have redesigned our online exhibit into an eye-popping interactive gallery, which now includes book summaries, author bios, publisher information, and book covers. In addition to the big reveal of this amazing – it truly is – new exhibit, we have invited special guests to share resources and marketing tools that are available for our burgeoning writerly community, including:

The Catapult Bookstore – Proprietor Seth Marko will be joining us live with tips on how to market your book to bookstores.
