Please join us as we celebrate the 2023 San Diego Local Authors at the 58th Annual Local Author Showcase Opening Reception. The Showcase of published books will be on display from January 26 - February 28 in the Dickinson Popular Library at the Central Library @ Joan Λ Irwin Jacobs Common.
The evening will begin with opening remarks from Library Deputy Director, Jennifer Jenkins, and the Friends of the Central Library. Award winning inspirational speaker, poet, playwriter and more, Gill Sotu will be delivering the Keynote Speech.
This will be a memorable evening with music by Ria and Aaron, refreshments by UWEAST, an activity for the authors (courtesy of the Innovation Lab), and a limited Open Mic* event for authors to share a brief passage from their book.
*There will be a table available for authors to write their name on a ticket, fold it in half and drop it in a bowl. Names will be drawn for authors to read a small passage from their 2023 book. Authors are responsible for bringing what they wish to share. The time limit will be 2-3 minutes per author. The reading will commence at 8:00 P.M. We will not have time for questions prior to the event. Host Michael Klam has final say on the time restrictions.

Parking: The library is located at 330 Park Blvd. San Diego, CA 92101. There is limited free Parking with a 2-hour validation. Afterwards: $1.25 for each 20 minutes or part of 20 minutes. Visit the parking website for additional parking options in the area.
