This lecture will feature African American artists who have helped shape the visual culture and art evolution of the United States but who have not been widely recognized for their work.

Featured artists include: Faith Ringgold, Joshua Johnson, Robert Duncanson, Edmonia Lewis, Henry Ossawa Tanner, Horace Pippin, Augusta Savage, Jacob Lawrence, Alma Thomas, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Kehinde Wiley.
