Program Description

Event Details

Join curator Dave Hampton (San Diego's Craft Revolution) and author/filmmaker Bill Perrine (It's Gonna Blow!!!) for a free-ranging and irrelevant discussion about the challenges and virtues of making radically creative art and music in a city where it's not valued, as well as Perrine’s new book, Alien Territory: Radical, Experimental, & Irrelevant Music in 1970s San Diego.

This is a free event open to the public. Registration is not necessary. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event with proceeds supporting the San Diego Public Library System. After the discussion there will be a book signing. To pre-order a copy of the book visit the Library Shop’s website

About the Author:

Bill Perrine is the director of the documentaries “Children of the Stars”, “It’s Gonna Blow!!! - San Diego’s Music Underground, 1986-96” and “Why Are We Doing This in Front of People?”. A former art dealer and researcher, this is the first book he has written but not the first he has read. He is currently working on a project with and about Mayo Thompson and the Red Krayola. He lives in San Diego and is deeply uninterested in writing his bio.
