Art Reception - Michael Leyva

Michael Leyva works with acrylic on canvas and wood to create vibrant, colorful paintings inspired by the ocean, coastal landscapes, and botanicals. As a recent cancer survivor, painting has served as a form of therapy to stay connected to the water while sidelined from surfing. He hopes viewers will find a sense of escape in the work—perhaps recalling a favorite coastline, a memory of the sea, or simply enjoying the color and energy of the painting. He recently exhibited at the Oceanside Museum of Art and has work on display from Solana Beach to San Clemente.
