Event Details

Meet author Susan Goldbeck as she discusses her new historical novel. This is San Diego as you have never known it!

New Town, an exciting slice of history, set in 1902, tells of San Diego's journey from a dusty, western town where Wyatt Earp roamed the streets, to a modern city on the world stage. The story is told through the eyes of a gutsy young reporter, Mary Kate Riley.

Readers will fall in love with Mary Kate as she struggles to find her place in a man's world at a time when the role of women was drastically changing. You'll be there with her as she cuts her teeth covering what was called "the trial of the century," which pits San Diego against its archrival Los Angeles.

New Town is full of fascinating characters that were key in moving San Diego into the new century. It is a book that puts you back into those dynamic days; you won't be able to put down.
