Program Description

Event Details

Every other week, SDPL staff have their book reviews published in the San Diego Union Tribune followed by a video review posted on SDPL social media the following week. Listen to the NPR interview with the author of the book reviewed and get Behind the Desk bonus content about the book!

Library assistant Jolanta Danaziene recommends Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland by Patrick Radden Keefe, a well-researched and riveting narrative about a notorious killing during the height of "The Troubles" in Northern Ireland and its devastating repercussions.

Behind the Desk is our latest video series and delves deeper into the Recommended Reads published every other Sunday in the Union-Tribune. Check the Sunday Paper to see the latest review from SDPL staff from all over San Diego or view our archives on the library website: https://sandiego.gov/sdplreviews.

Want other suggestions for great reads? Jolanta has a bonus playlist for you:

Milkman by Anna Burns

Armed Struggle: The History of the IRA by Richard English

Hunger, film directed by Steve McQueen
