Event Details

Every other week, library staff publish book reviews in the San Diego Union-Tribune sometimes followed by a video review on social media the following week.  No Behind the Desk video this week. Instead view a webinar in which the author participated at the Brookings Institution.

Librarian Jeff Davis reviews Know Your Price: Valuing Black Lives and Property in America's Black Cities by Andre M. Perry in which the author highlights the structures creating persistent racial wealth gaps in America's cities.

Behind the Desk is our latest video series and delves deeper into the Recommended Reads published every other Sunday in the Union-Tribune. Check the Sunday Paper to see the latest review from SDPL staff or view our archives on the library website: https://sandiego.gov/sdplreviews.

Want other suggestions for great reads? Jeff has a playlist for you:

Two Trains Running by August Wilson

Race for Profit: How Banks and the Real Estate Industry Undermined Black Homeownership by Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor:

Black Detroit: A People's History of Self-Determination by Herb Boyd
