Event Details

Every other week, SDPL staff publish book reviews in the San Diego Union Tribune followed by a video review posted on SDPL social media the following week.  No Behind the Desk video this week. Instead listen to a great review by NPR book reviewer, Maureen Corrigan.

Librarian Linda Brawley recommends Girl, Woman, Other by British writer Bernardine Evaristo, which follows the lives and struggles of 12 mostly black British women, and stories of their families, friends and lovers, across the country and through the years.

Behind the Desk is our latest video series and delves deeper into the Recommended Reads published every other Sunday in the Union-Tribune. Check the Sunday Paper to see the latest review from SDPL staff from all over San Diego or view our archives on the library website: https://sandiego.gov/sdplreviews.

Want other suggestions for great reads? Linda has a playlist for you:

The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett

Red at The Bone by Jacqueline Woodson, Jacqueline

Dissident gardens by Jonathan Lethem
