African American Music Appreciation Month, originally called Black Music Month, was created by Kenny Gamble, Dyana Williams, and radio DJ Ed Wright and became official under President Jimmy Carter on June 7th, 1979 by celebrating on the White House lawn.  Join us at the Logan Heights library as we celebrate this special month, as well as the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop and its roots, with a high energy performance that will be sure to get your toes tapping.
