Join the award-winning Black Storytellers of San Diego as they bestow honor and recognition to local and international African American’s throughout history. Stories, songs & presentations will accentuate The Association of the Study of African-American Life and History (ASALH) 2018 theme, “African Americans in Times of War,” which commemorates the centennial of the end of the First World War in 1918, and explores the complex meanings and implications of this international struggle and its aftermath. A Special presentation of remembrance will feature a storytelling concert to honor  Ancestor Dr.  Annjennette Sophie McFarlin,  the visionary and founder of The Black Storytellers of San  Diego  Inc.   In 1999, it was the first affiliate of the National Association of Black Storytellers, Inc. (NABS) west of the Mississippi River. (Light refreshments will be served at this free event)
