Program Description

Event Details

The Day of Silence is a national movement to highlight the silencing and erasure of LGBTQ students in school, which demands that school leaders take action to be more inclusive. Nearly 4 in 5 LGBTQ students don’t see positive LGBTQ representation in their curriculum, nearly 9 in 10 experience verbal harassment, and almost a third miss school for feeling unsafe or uncomfortable.

In honor of the many voices that have been silenced, please join us to BREAK THE SILENCE with poetry writing and sharing. Write about anything! How it feels being bullied, ways to stand up to bullying, things you and your community can do to eliminate bullying. Anything that’s on your mind.

This will be a JUDGEMENT FREE zone and a SAFE SPACE.

We will also have prizes and snacks.
