Parents: This is a Victorian era gothic novel written for the Victorian era adult. While its sensibilities are generally more reserved than our modern day ones, there are aspects to consider when reading this with your child. This book contains some racist imagery typical of the time, internalized homophobia, depictions of sexual desire (heavy petting, professed longings, touching, kissing.), gore/blood (limited), passive sexism, and child death. An older teen will likely have no qualms with the content, but a younger teen/pre-teen may benefit from exploring this text with a trusted adult.
*Late registrations will be accepted until October 20th. Late registrants should e-mail Pbronstein@sandiego.gov to request registration. Please allow 2-3 business days for late registration.
