March is Women’s History Month! Join us for an afternoon of baseball and the collision of sport, gender, and American society, featuring a new documentary by award-winning filmmaker Jon Leonoudakis, “Shutout! The Battle American Women Wage to Play Baseball.” The film features stories and perspectives from baseball pioneers like Ila Borders, Justine Siegal, and Maybelle Blair and Shirley Burkovich from the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (aka “A League of Their Own).

This film is part of Leonoudakis’ streaming documentary series “The Sweet Spot: A Treasury of Baseball Stories.”  The program will include a Q & A with the filmmaker and special guest authors Jennifer Ring and Jean Hastings Ardell.  Local Fox 5 Sportscaster Tabithal Lipkin will also join our panel!  There will a book signing with all of the panelist authors. (The film runs about 80 minutes).
