MatriSys Bioscience: pioneering the development of skin microbiome therapeutics, or, good bugs that kill the bad bugs

Skin disease afflicts millions of people across the US, contributing to huge amount of dollars in healthcare costs each year. These diseases are caused by pathogenic bacteria on the skin and are typically treated with antibiotics. However, the Gallo Lab at UCSD’s School of Medicine, has found that skin diseases are often associated with a lack of beneficial microorganisms on the skin that produce pathogen-regulating compounds. Researchers at UCSD and MatriSys Bioscience are now leveraging these latest results to develop novel precision probiotics specifically targeted to attack these pathogenic bacteria, without the side effects of standard antibiotic treatments. Join us to learn more about these probiotics and find out when they will become available.
