Program Description

Event Details

Free to participate! Every participant will be able to go home with a take-home, programmable LED lantern!

Come and learn how to illuminate a Mexican-themed lantern using Raspberry Pi in a two-hour class that aims to enlighten young minds on the art of coding. Guided by expert software engineers, students will get one-on-one help in a two-hour class. With support from the Library Foundation SD and in collaboration with the nonprofit Code with Her, this opportunity gears to support students and equip them with knowledge, skill, and confidence.

The library will provide laptops for use during the program, but students can bring their laptops as long as their computer has Windows 10 or MAC OS Majove/Big Sur and provides their own USB-C adaptor.

The program is best for ages 10+, but anyone under age 13 should have a parent in the room so that the parents can support the student following the program.
