Caitlin Rother has written or co-authored 12 books, ranging from narrative non-fiction crime to memoir and crime fiction. Her other titles include the recent Then No One Can Have Her and Dead Reckoning as well as local favorites Poisoned Love, Lost Girls, and Naked Addiction. A Pulitzer-nominated investigative reporter at daily newspapers for 19 years, she’s been published in Cosmopolitan, the San Diego Union-Tribune, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, Boston Globe, Huffington Post and the Daily Beast. Rother has appeared more than 100 times on TV and radio on shows including Crime Watch Daily, Nancy Grace, Snapped, Greta Van Susteren’s On the Record, America at Night, and numerous shows on Investigation Discovery, A&E, C-SPAN, XM Radio, and various PBS affiliates. Rother also works as a coach/consultant in writing, research and book promotions.

J.W. August is an award-winning investigative producer at NBC 7 San Diego. He has won 3​6 Emmys for investigative reporting, writing, and journalistic enterprise. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences also recognized him for his career in broadcasting. The San Diego Press Club recognized him with two lifetime achievement awards, one as a reporter/producer and one as news manager. August is past president of the San Diego Society of Professional Journalists. He's also president of a non-profit combating sex and labor trafficking, the Bilateral Safety Corridor Coalition and is president emeritus of Californians Aware which advocates for transparency and open government in California.
