Program Description

Event Details

Registration is not required. Everyone is welcome.

We invite community members to learn about historic oppression and systemic racism and share their lived experiences for personal and community empowerment.

Similar to weaving durable fine woven mats (lau fala), Samoan women built and strengthened the Samoan community in Southeast San Diego despite social norms and traditional gender roles. Samoan and Pacific Islander community arts advocate, Cyrrona Solia, will uplift the identity of Samoan women. She will also raise awareness about community leaders who are caretakers of their stories, oceans, and villages.
