Here we discuss the best true crime books. While the stories can be gruesome and the characters repulsive, the stories entertain and often promote considerations of sociological and psychological perspectives. We will discuss the narratives and the storytelling. We meet via Zoom on the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm. This month's selection is "Death in the Air". The Great Smog of 1952 remains the deadliest air pollution disaster in world history, and John Reginald Christie is still one of the most unfathomable serial killers of modern times. Journalist Kate Winkler Dawson braids these strands together into a taut, compulsively readable true crime thriller about a man who changed the fate of the death penalty in the UK, and an environmental catastrophe with implications that still echo today. A limited number of copies are available at SDPL. Keep in mind SDCL and Link+. Reach out to me if you need help procuring a copy.
