At the juncture of two related shows at Central Library, one on mid-century work from the collection of Mingei followed by a retrospective of modernist photographer Julius Schulman, modern-day collectors of mid-century art and objects discuss their favorite acquisitions bringing to life this moment in history. What do we love about the era? Why is it so enjoyable to collect art and artifacts from this period today? What was the impetus for becoming a collector? How does one begin a collection? How does mid-century design relate to the architecture of this period? Join us for an intimate coffee-table conversation to share stories about our favorite acquisitions.
