We invite community members to learn about historic oppression and systemic racism and share their lived experiences for personal and community empowerment.

Few Americans today know of “sundown towns,” which restricted groups from being present after the sun had set. Far fewer know that they also existed in the Western states, including California. Join Natalye Harpin to explore their history, as well as the role that race played in determining who was welcome or not! Natalye Harpin is a Professor of Ethnic Studies and History at Grossmont College, and a permanent lecturer at UCSD.
