August's free family music program sponsored by the Friends of the Carmel Valley Library will be held on Wednesday, August 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library’s community room. It will feature the Yrion Duo (Irina Bendetsky, piano and Ondrey Lewitt, violin) in a program to include Beethoven Sonata No. 9 and Schubert Fantasia in C major. Irina Bendetsky was born in Moscow and educated at the renowned Gnessin Conservatory of Music. She has appeared with orchestras in Russia and the United States performing concertos by Liszt, Ravel, Beethoven, Bach, Shostakovich, and the famously difficult “Rach 3” (Rachmaninoff’s Concerto No. 3). Born in Prague (Czech Republic), Ondrej Lewit started to study the violin at the age of seven at Elementary School of Music, later continued at State Conservatory of Music and obtained his MA degree graduating at Academy of Performing Arts. He has enjoyed a varied career as chamber musician, teacher and performer in Spain, Mexico and the U.S. Currently, he serves as concertmaster of the Grossmont Symphony Orchestra.
