Event Details
Celebrate Mexican Independence and California history at the Old Town San Diego State Historic Park! Everyone is invited--families, locals and visitors for a festive day with a parade (open to spectators and marchers), crafts, live entertainment and more.
San Diego Public Library is taking part, too! We are joining in on the excitement and hosting crafts and bilingual storytimes throughout the day. Become a member of SDPL by signing up for a library card. Come to the SDPL booth and hear all about upcoming events and library resources from the library team.

Cascarones – Make your own colorful confetti eggs and learn about this playful tradition that brings joy and laughter to every celebration.
Corn Husk Dolls – Discover the art of crafting with maize (corn) a tradition passed down through generations.
Paper Flowers – Create bright, beautiful “blooms” and take home your own piece of handmade fiesta décor!

• Costume Parade: Park staff and volunteers don 1800s period clothing and promenade around the plaza. Photos are welcome and so are additional participants!
• Guac' Off: Who has the best guacamole in Old Town San Diego? You can decide in the second annual Old Town Guac’ Off hosted by the Boosters of Old Town San Diego and Old Town San Diego Chamber of Commerce.
