Program Description

Event Details

"Find Your Voice" with Sharon Katz, South African musician and activist who will show the 9-minute trailer of the documentary "When Voices Meet", followed by an interactive music and dance performance, a Question & Answer period, and a discussion about how the participants can use their voices in their community.

Sharon Katz found her voice during the Apartheid era in South Africa when she was a teenager.  She formed "The Peace Train" movement with her  Black and Brown colleagues to break down the barriers between the country's separated communities.  Together they encouraged the youth from diverse backgrounds to play their part in a changing South Africa under the leadership of Nelson Mandela and went on to be Nelson Mandela's ambassadors around the world.
