Author Mary Cronk Farrell presents the little-known story of American WWII Navy and Army nurses’ courageous duty under fire in the Philippines. The 79 women had no training in combat nursing when the Japanese bombs fell, but they learned quickly, inundated with wounded and dying soldiers. And then they were captured! How did these women survive fear, disease and starvation for three years in captivity? Mary tells the story through their own words and rare historical film and photos. The nurses' courage and sacrifice will renew your faith in the resilience of the human mind, body and spirit. Their story shows how grit arises in the darkest places.

Mary Cronk Farrell is the author of the critically acclaimed Pure Grit: How American World War II Nurses Survived Battle and Prison Camp in the Pacific. Learn more about her books at www.MaryCronkFarrell.com.
