Program Description

Event Details

Aniko Makranczy, MFA, will introduce us to Gustav Klimt (1862-1918), the Austrian symbolist most widely known for his paintings, murals, and as a founder of the Vienna Secession movement. While his best-known works are gilded art nouveau portraits of women such as the Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I, he also painted many memorable landscapes that challenged conventional styles. Klimt was influenced by Chinese and Byzantine visual art.

This San Diego Oasis event is free to attend thanks to the generous support of the Friends of the Mission Hills-Hillcrest/Knox Branch Library.
