Join a diverse slate of fine San Diego poets paying homage and celebrating the 4th annual Hafez Day in San Diego while using verse as an avenue for peace and international connection.

700 years after his death, the Persian 14th century poet Hafez remains Iran's and one of the world’s most revered writers. He is the only writer to have a national holiday named after him, reflecting the unparalleled legacy of his work. Besides Iran, Hafez Day is celebrated in 61 other countries across the globe.

Namaad Ensemble of Persian Classical Music

For centuries, Iran has produced some of the world’s most influential and inspiring poets including Saadi, Ferdowsi, Omar Khayyam, and Rumi, the best-selling poet in the US for the past 10 years. Their works have influenced the literature of both East and West. Spanning themes of love, divine mysticism and human rights, Persian poetry is an incredible contribution to world culture, and remains entirely relevant today. Presented in collaboration with the Persian Cultural Center and San Diego Poetry Annual.
