24th  Annual Toy Piano Festival

with Festival Director Scott Paulson

In partnership with UC San Diego Library

Join us as we kick off the Fall 2024 Concert Series!

This program will include exciting new works for toy piano, traditional lullabies from many lands, and chiming clock tunes. All musicians will join in to feature Leopold Mozart's "Toy Symphony" in a special arrangement for two toy pianos and toy instruments made exclusively for the Toy Piano Festival!

This year's artists are Kay Etheridge, Kenneth Herman, Sue Palmer, Samara Rice, Barbara Scheidker, and Alex Segal.

A second performance will occur on Thursday, September 5, at noon, in the Seuss Room of UC San Diego’s Geisel Library, and is meant to mark composer John Cage's birthday.

Did you Know?

Cage was the first composer to write a "serious" work for toy piano.

UC San Diego features The Toy Piano Collection at Geisel Library. The Toy Piano Collection consists of actual instruments, commissioned scores, and extant literature and recordings. Most of the commissioned scores in the collection are composed by UC San Diego alumni.
