Program Description

Event Details

Welcome to the Core Biology Concept Workshop! This workshop is for upper-elementary and middle school students interested in gaining a head start on high school biology and those passionate about exploring critical biology topics through lab activities modeling biological processes and simulated lab procedures. For ages 10-13.

Applications of Biology in Medicine: In this lesson, we will learn about applications of biology in the field of medicine, specifically how that knowledge can be implemented to generate novel treatments for emerging types of diseases such as cancer. We will go over some new examples of this in the field of Biotechnology and also use different models to demonstrate these processes.

About the Presenters:

The Core Biology Concept team is composed of passionate high school students from a variety of STEM clubs at Canyon Crest Academy. Our mission is to introduce middle school students to biology with the help of lab-based activities in natural selection, genetics, and more. Ultimately, we intend on generating curiosity and developing an enjoyment of learning that can be applied to any future profession.
