Program Description

Event Details

Voices on the Inside workshop takes the contents of the multimodal exhibit to a deeper level and an even more hands-on approach to poetry, portraiture and visual literacy. Attendees will engage in Visual Thinking Strategies protocol, direct and/or create their own portrait, and engage each other in conversations connected to the visual nature of our current society, and the overwhelming power of social media and other outlets, for advocacy efforts in a visual context around some pressing systemic and social justice issues.

In this two-hour session participants will experience a guided walkthrough of the exhibit with special attention to artistic choices taken by the women featured in the exhibit and will also include a larger conversation of the power of visual and multimodal artifacts as tools for healing and advocacy. If you have headphones, please bring them to the workshop. Audio recordings will be available throughout the exhibit.
