Elementary School AgeProgram Description
Event Details
In this engaging and interactive class, students will explore the fundamentals of algebra through hands-on activities and real-world applications. The class is designed for students who know the basics of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, but who have not yet used variables and letters in math at school.
Taught by high school students passionate about math education through Project NexTech, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, this class breaks down key concepts such as variables, equations, functions, and proportions in a fun and approachable way. Through problem-solving challenges, visual demonstrations, experiments involving pizza and other snacks, along with real-life applications—like budgeting, sports statistics, and physics experiments—students will see how algebra is used in everyday life. By the end of the class, participants will not only understand algebraic principles but also gain confidence in applying them to real-world situations!
