Program Description

Event Details

Hurricanes are severe and sometimes violent storms that form in the southern Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, Gulf of Mexico, and in the eastern Pacific Ocean. In the activity Hurricanes vs. Houses, children will work alone or in a small group to build a structure that will face simulated strong winds and rain. This activity is not an actual replication of a storm but intended to give children an idea of the range of tropical cyclone categories and demonstrate how hurricanes can be devastating to communities.
