Description of Event
Chess Club(Open to all ages)
-Curriculum and teaching focus:
Beginners (~20 min)
● Set the board
● Learn how the pieces move
● Show basic checkmate patterns (two rooks, queen + king)
● Practice short “mini-games” (king + pawns only)
Intermediate players (~20 min)
● Teach key tactics: forks, pins, skewers
● Review common opening principles (control the center, develop pieces, king safety)
● Show a famous game or instructive position to discuss together
Interactive Play Time (30–40 min)
● Kids play against each other in short games (~10 min per game)
● Walk around, give advice, answer questions
● Pair stronger players with beginners to help teach
