Description of Event

Presented by Andrew Peteru, this is a free Samoan Genealogy workshop with a primary goal to foster a sense of identity, pride, and improved mental well-being by connecting youth to their ancestral roots and the broader Samoan and AANHPI communities.  We will be discussing Resources and Tools for Samoan Family History Research & Practical Tips for Conducting Family History Research in Samoa.

We aim to overcome unique challenges associated with Samoan genealogy, such as limited written historical records, the nuances of oral traditions, and the complex societal structures that transmit family history.  This program was made possible thanks to grant support from Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Fund at San Diego Foundation.

All ages and backgrounds are welcome.
