The La Jolla Playhouse presents a viewing of the 2021 POP Tour “Pick Me Last.”
A playground. 2 teams. 2 captains. It’s the same thing every day at Chavonne’s elementary school – her best friend Wes is always picked last. So she hatches a plan to end the schoolyard cycle. Still, after a few imaginary visits from visionaries Sigmund Freud and Elon Musk, plus a little help from the new kid, Chavonne learns that the problem she’s trying to fix may not be the one that needs solving.
Don’t miss this funny and touching story – infused with music and poetry – about standing up for your friends and learning to let them stand up for themselves.
This is the 35th year of pop tours put on by the La Jolla Playhouse and—thanks to the pandemic—the first year the performance was recorded in order to reach audiences. Geared to 3rd-6th graders.
In addition, join La Jolla Playhouse Teaching Artist, Wilfred Paloma for an hour of fun theater games and exercises connected to the production of PICK ME LAST! Expect to get on your feet, use your voice, and have some fun! Lesson will be geared towards 3rd-6th grade minds, but students of all ages and abilities are welcome.
