Program Description

Event Details

Did you know that when Auguste Bartholdi first envisioned the Statue of Liberty he wanted it to be a lighthouse? Did you realize that the U.S. Government wanted nothing to do with it? And that when it finally arrived as a gift from the people of France to America there was no place to put it? Here is the story of how Lady Liberty came to be on tiny Bedlow’s Island in New York Harbor, how it was designed, built and finally shone her light on the New World.
