Recovered & Uncovered: Books for Now hosted by the Library's Visual Arts Program and led by local artists: Cindy Zimmerman, Doris Bittar, and Ruth Wallen
Printed matter such as newspapers, magazines, and security envelopes will be assembled and collaged to create potent metaphor and commentaries on book banning, censorship, and other related issues of the collective moment. Several artists' book templates will be offered with encouragement to follow paths of curiosity, play and resistance as participants find the best form for their chosen words and images. Drawing techniques such as gesture and contour, which may be added to the found materials, will be explored. Participants may want to bring their own clippings or favorite sketchbooks.
Supplies will be provided.
