Program Description

Event Details

Mary Shelley's novel, Frankenstein: Or the Modern Prometheus, has spawned two centuries of adaptations, films, and imitations. It's story seems everywhere. But what happens when we return to Shelley's own novel: what is new or unusual about it for us today? What can it teach us about the imagination, about moral action, and about what it means to be human? Distinguished Professor of Literature Seth Lerer of the University of California at San Diego will lecture on the endurance of Frankenstein.
