Event Details

The United States Postal Service and the San Diego Public Library invite you to join us at the Logan Heights Branch Library on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. for the Lowriders Commemorative Forever stamp First Day of Issue Dedication ceremony.

Chief Postal Inspector Gary Barksdale will officially dedicate the new set of stamps followed by a mariachi performance, autograph opportunities for dedicated philatelists, a food truck, and the opportunity to purchase some of the new stamps. The unveiling ceremony will feature Xavier the X-Man as Master of Ceremonies and a special Welcome greeting by Library Director Misty Jones. Lowriders will be on display during the festivities. The David J. Copley Teen IDEA Lab will feature a demonstration of a 3D printed lowrider, with pre-printed cars available to give away while supplies last. Festivities will wrap up at 3pm.

A large crowd is expected, so guests are strongly encouraged to use public transportation or Uber/Lyft. The MTS Orange trolley line stops about 10-12 blocks away from the library – it’s a great opportunity to use your Pronto card.

See the attached flyer for more programs and events celebrating lowrider culture and postal stamps in the days leading up to the Dedication Ceremony.
