Event Details

The Magic Fish YA graphic novel by Trung Le Nguyen tells the story of a boy who bonds with his Vietnamese mother while reading folk tales they check out from the library. One tale in particular, Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid, also represents the two world's Tiến finds himself in while struggling to come out to his parents so they can truly accept him. Similarly, Tiến's mother is caught between two worlds being an immigrant new to America. Come watch Disney's The Little Mermaid with friends, have Vietnamese food, and craft your own piece of patchwork reflecting two worlds.
