Program Description

Event Details

This is a Free all ages event. Come learn a bit about electronic circuits and solder your own light up robot badge, provided by the San Diego Makers Guild (http://www.sdmakersguild.org ).

Then, watch "Maker", the documentary that looks into the current Maker Movement in America. A new wave of Do-It-Yourself and Do-It-Together culture fueled by passion and powered by the advent of new technologies. This new movement subverts traditional manufacturing by building on innovative concepts such as open source, local manufacturing, crowd funding, and digital fabrication.

The film explores the ideas, tools, and personalities that are driving the Maker Movement and delves deep into this ecosystem of design and manufacturing in the Internet era, that is far more than a hobbyist movement. Afterwards, feel free to discuss how these tools and ideas could help you with your own ideas. Learn a bit more about the makerspace available to you here at your library.
