Program Description

Event Details

Marc Chagall used a deeply personal iconography in his paintings and explored subjects of exile and loss. His images draw on Biblical themes, traditions of Jewish life, and contemporary avant-garde developments in Europe at the time, such as Fauvism, Surrealism, and Cubism. Uprooted and floating dreamers, as well as lovers, populate his compositions. In this presentation, Aniko Makranczy explores Marc Chagall as a person and as an artist.

Aniko Makranczy received her MFA from the University of Maryland, College Park and her BA in anthropology from UC Riverside. She taught studio art classes at Montgomery Community College in Maryland.

This San Diego Oasis event is free to attend thanks to the generous support of the Friends of the Mission Hills-Hillcrest/Knox Branch Library.
