Program Description

Event Details

Here we discuss the best true crime books.  While the stories can be gruesome and the characters repulsive, the stories entertain and often promote considerations of sociological and psychological perspectives.  We will discuss the narratives and the storytelling.  We meet via Zoom on the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm.  This month's selection is "The Art Thief" for centuries, works of art have been stolen in countless ways from all over the world, but no one has been quite as successful at it as the master thief Stéphane Breitwieser. Carrying out more than two hundred heists over nearly ten years-in museums and cathedrals all over Europe-Breitwieser, along with his girlfriend who worked as his lookout, stole more than three hundred objects, until it all fell apart in spectacular fashion  There are ample copies of this selection for loan available in the County Library system.
